IFD President's Welcome
Since the last IFD meeting in Dublin, Ireland, in 2014, the IFD has been through many changes. ADQ office has been officially the office for IFD and Chief executive Ms. Camille Bourbonnais has been nominated. As such, the current IFD Executive Committee is now Tony Sarrapuchiello (President), Eric Engelbrecht (Vice-President Europe), Paul Levasseur (Vice-President America) and John Rogan (vice-president Australia/Asia/Africa). ADQ is helping by offering freely their office as an official address of IFD.
As you are all aware, at the last meeting in Dublin, the IFD was positioning the organization in order to generate income and to fulfill its mission statements. IFD received support from its members to fulfill its mandate.
The IFD is pleased to announce that Mauritius is now a member of the IFD.
Two Denturist education centers NESDT (New England School of Dental Technology) and ACD (American Denturist College) have been created in the USA and have received their approval by IFD. They will present their programs at our 9th World Symposium on Denturism.
IFD redesigned the website and its logo to be more attractive to Denturists by also including links to members' country. In 2015, IFD continued to support its members and has increased its notoriety and credibility. The IFD needs more young Denturists all over the world to continue the adventure into the world of international Denturism.
The IFD wants to promote International Accreditation with a new affiliation with Curriculum Advisory of Canada Committee. The interesting subject will be discussed in our annual meeting on September 13th and 14th, 2015.
All of our country representatives work hard for the recognition of the profession. This year we expose the work of two of them, John Salomone Reynaud and Eric Engelbercht.
- John Salomone Reynaud works with diligence with European Union on key activities such as:
January's meeting with EU Commission regarding awareness of Dental lobby;
MDTA to be included as a professional body in the Health Care Act;
Meeting with Minister of Education regarding MDTA's dispute of the degree course at University in Dental Technology from 4 to 3 years.
- Eric Engelbrecht exposed in our Executive Committee that the situation is difficult in The Netherlands. The relation between dentists and Denturists is tense. Now, Denturists are directors of their work but dentists are putting pressure on insurance companies, government, notified bodies in order to become directors of the patients and their mouth care, and as a consequence, the work of Denturists. It is a power game for money.
We, as International Federation of Denturists,
- Hope to work fro Denturists world-wide to help get the knowledge to empower Denturists to get the recognition they deserve.
- Work on our goal now and forever, the advancement of the profession of Denturists on a world-wide basis.
